Team SSC East/CRG grabbed another national championship this season, as Arie Ouimet was crowned 2010 CKI KF2 National Champion last weekend at CKI’s Mandalay Bay course in Las Vegas. The victory is Ouimet’s second consecutive CKI KF2 crown, the series most competitive division. Teammate Joey Wimsett capped off a successful first season under the SSC East flag, finishing 3rd in the KF2 final standings.
Ouimet was the man to beat all season long, he burst into the season with 3 straight victories and let the field chase him the rest of the way. At the final event strong competition from both Wimsett and Phil DeLaO took the championship down to the wire, with Ouimet prevailing by taking 2-second places and a 3rd over the weekend. Wimsett stayed close all weekend clinching 3rd place with a gritty podium finish in Sunday’s final.
“It was a great season for Arie, Joey and the entire SSC East team. KF2 is the class of the series and these guys were front runners from the first green flag to the final checker,” states Dave Davies, SSC East Director of Operations. “It’s always special to defend a national title – Arie should be proud. Joey had a memorable first year with our team – I expect more great racing from him next year. Also, I can’t forget to credit the tuners; these guys kept the team in position to win throughout the season.”
