It was another dominating weekend for the CRG brand in Northeastern corner of the United States as SSC East and CRG competed at the Northeast Rotax Regional Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP). With several drivers in attendance, all were searching for elusive race wins and podiums to carry the momentum through the last quarter of the season.
With the double event weekend format providing drivers with two different chances to stand atop the podium, a host of drivers arrived at the NJMP facility Friday morning for unofficial test laps. Looking to get up to speed early and have a jump on their competition, CRG drivers looked great right out of the box turning some very quick times.
“It was a very good weekend for SSC East and CRG,” expressed Mark Ouimet from his office. “We were very fortunate to have CRG World Champion Jonathon Thonon in attendance, who brought the crowds to the fence with his dominating drive in a KZ2 CRG during Sunday’s racing action. Everyone on CRG did a tremendous job and we managed to put together several podium results.”
Leading the way was Trent Hindman who competed in Rotax Senior. The talented senior rookie swept the weekend’s action scoring two pole positions, two heat race wins and two main event victories. Not only did Hindman dominate by scoring both race wins, CRG dominated the podium on both days of action taking the first three positions as Mark Pellegrini and Carter Fartuch scored a pair of second and third place results respectively.
A pair of CRG drivers, Alex Gamache and Gavin Reichelt, could be seen at the front of the field as the duo scored four podium results between them. Reichelt got the best of Gamache on Saturday scoring a second place result, but Gamache rose to the challenge on Sunday taking the race win to go along with her third place result the day before. Reichelt would settle for a pair of second place results.
Anthony Gangi followed in the footsteps of fellow CRG driver Trent Hindman scoring a pair of strong wins over the weekend. Dominating the weekend’s wheel to wheel action, Gangi was awarded the top step of the podium for his determination and drive in both main events. Fellow CRG pilot Dylan Tavella would stand with Gangi on the podium at the end of Saturday’s festivities with a solid third place result.
It was the Hamel and Nunes show in the Rotax Masters class as the pair of CRG pilots could be seen at the pointy end of the field all weekend long. Ricardo Nunes scored the main event win on Saturday and backed that strong run up with another second place podium result on Sunday. Not to be outdone, Russel Hamel stood on the top step of the podium in Sunday’s racing action, improving on his third place finish the day prior.
In the DD2 class it was all Kristina Vorndran on Sunday as she scored another CRG victory on the weekend. Not only was she the best of the field in DD2, the talented senior provided CRG with a weekend high eight victories.
SSC East would like to thank everyone that supported CRG this year including drivers Thomas Appleton, Robert Young, Yannick Schaefer, Natalia Mayo, Jacob MacAvoy, Billy Ogle, Adam Labonte, Joe Henning and Darren Whitehead.
SSC East and CRG are now in preparation for the this weekend’s CKI Grand Championship at Mandalay Bay where Arie Ouimet, Joey Wimsett, Maddie and Even Komar and Niki Luna will all see action. Mid-November will bring the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals taking place November 17 – 21 at the RIO All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada where CRG will look to continue their dominance in the biggest race of the year.
