WKA Manufacturers Cup
For 2011, SSC East is participatiing in the WKA
Manufacturers Cup Series. Many of today's racing superstars started right here! 2011 Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne is a WKA member. 2010 Daytona 500 Jamie McMurray is a member as well as an 2011 inductee to the WKA Hall of Fame.
The Manufacturers Cup Series is a 5 race series that historically starts in December at Daytona International Speedway during the week between Christmas and New Years. This year there were over 600 entries at Daytona. The second race of the 2011 season was at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C., March 11, 12 and 13. Kershaw drew 527 entries and this was the first time that they had held a WKA Natioanl event.
Next up is the MKP Nationals at Michiana Raceway Park just outside South Bend, Indiana April 29, 30 and May 1st. SSC East is attending that race and we do have space to take a couple more racers. This is a great way to get some exposure to racing against other people from across the U.S. Contact Mark or Dave for details.
The fourth race of the 2011 season will be the SSC East/CRG Summer Nationals at Beaverun Motorsports Park located in Wampum, PA. This race will take place July 8, 9, and 10.
The last race of the season is September 16, 17 and 18 at New Castle Motorsports Park, one of the fastest and best go kart tracks in the nation.
SSC East will be attending all of the remaining races and if anybody would like to attend any or all of the remaining races, just give Dave or Mark a call @ 781-843-0100, or send them an email

KERSHAW REPORT
The big blue rig was packed with karts and motors as SSC East Racing made its way to Kershaw, South Carolina for the second round of the World Karting Associations George Kuglers Manufacturers Cup Series.
Joining Dave Davies and Jeremiah Damon were team members Trent Hindman and Arie Ouimet. Both Hindman and Ouimet would compete in TAG1, TAG2 and Leopard only classes.
Off the trailer, both drivers were quick, this was the first time either of them and SSC East had ever been to the track and they learned it quickly.
In TAG1 and TAG2 we realized that the powerband of the Leopard engines did not suit the track at Carolina Motorsports Park very well. That did not stop SSC East, we just had to work and race harder. Arie and Trent did not disappoint team principle Dave Davies "The boys gave us great feed back and we were able to give them karts that were fast"
But as racing goes, we always want to be on the center podium, but because of contact with other drivers, SSC East earned 3 top tens in TAG1 and 2.
In Leopard only, everyone had the same engine and lady luck was on our side. SSC East drivers crossed the finish line 2nd and 5th. But Aries luck went bad. Both the winner of the race and Arie were disqualified. During the race and the previous days practice, the end of the exhaust flex wore down resulting in an exhaust that was too short, by 1/16 of an inch. Aries misfortune resulted in Trent moving up to take the 3rd step on the podium.
We will get them at the next race!
